Wolfbite had her baby.

Feb 14th Wolfbite had an OB appointment in the am and the doctor said she would be surprised if she made it through the weekend before having her baby. I asked her to at least give me through dinner because I was to make manacotti for Khornesone.

We made it through dinner and.... that was it.. Off to the hospital she and I went. Khornesone dropped us off around 8pm. Spent an hour in Labor and Delivery Triage room to be assessed, fully expecting them to send us home again. Nope.. She was in so much pain and misery they said they wanted her to walk around the hospital for an hour or two and get checked again.

So off to walking the hospital we went. Walked inside and outside and then walked the halls outside of Labor and delivery. She got thirsty and while she was drinking water a nurse came out and told us to come back. She had been dilated to 1 for almost 4 weeks. The 13th of Feb she was dilated to 2. At her ob appointment in the am on the 14th she was at 3. At midnight Feb 15th she was dilated to 4 and they said she was staying.

Got her moved from the triage room to a Labor and Delivery room and started getting her prepped for delivery. Figured we where going to be in for the long haul so called KO and had him bring our bags to the hosp.

She was in so much pain that it was decided she needed an epidural. Within an hour of getting that done she passed out and they had to put her on oxygen. The midwives and nursing staff started noticing minor issues happening with her breathing and with the baby's heart beat.

They took her off the external monitors for the baby and put one directly on his head as it was presenting. Then things started going down hill from there.

We had a nurse that was improperly measuring dilation and had WB registering as dilated to 8 at 2am on the 15th. A doctor came in and checked and then took the woman out of the room after stating that WB was only dilated to 5.5.

Things quieted down for a time and then everything started going down hill. Every time WB had a contraction two additional things would happen. Her blood pressure would shoot up and the baby's heart beat would plummet. After the 17th time of the baby's heart dropping down from the 140 to 160 beats per minute range to 50 to 60 beats per min they came and examined her to find that the baby had turned in the womb and was not in the ideal position to birth and that something was wrong with the baby.

At 6 am two doctors consulted with the 2 midwives on duty and called it, we where heading into an emergency c section to deliver baby Jack. They whisked her off into the OR and prepped me to follow a short time later after they got her in place. On the way to the OR the babys heart rate dropped again and they didn't wait for me to get into the room before they started the procedure. I was escorted in about 10 minutes in and placed at her head to hold her hand.

The baby's umbilical cord was wrapped around his head and face and slipping down onto his neck. They got him untangled and then had difficulty suctioning out his lungs so he could breathe. It was just after 6:30am when he was officially delivered.

We already knew he was going to be a tiny baby and we where not wrong. Jack Ray Daniel ****** was born around 6:30am on the 15th of Feb 2013. 6 Lbs 6.8 ozs (They have officially rounded up to 6lbs 7ozs) and measured 19 inches long.

She was able to kiss his face at 6:40am but was unable to hold him due to complications until around 7:15 am.

She was released from the hospital today but sadly baby Jack was not. She has had trouble nursing and baby Jack has lost almost 10% of his birth weight, some loss is expected after birth but not this much.

They are keeping him there, and she stays with him as she is his source of food, until tomorrow. At midnight they will weigh him again to see if there has been any improvement since her milk has come in, to his weight. If there has been then he will get to come home tomorrow, if there has not been then she will have to supplement with formula to get his weight up and they will more then likely keep him until Tuesday.

So that is where we are at. I am a grandma and Wolfbite is a mother.
